Small TALK is near the centre of Newcastle with world class walks and beaches and great cafés and restaurants.



Initial employment can be on a PT/FT basis (2-4 days flexible based on the candidate’s needs). Hours could be tailored to the employee’s preferences.

The role will involve a mix of in clinic (face to face and telehealth) and out of clinic (school, preschool and home visits) appointments.

Recent Graduates are welcome to apply. Expressions of interest are also accepted for 4th year student speech pathologists looking for AHA roles.

Essential Criteria:

  1. A confident, friendly and approachable personality
  2. Exceptional time management skills
  3. Self driven, enthusiastic and willing to take initiative
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. A strong interest in working with children with Complex Communication Needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder
  6. Bachelor of Speech Pathology or Masters of Speech Pathology
  7. Membership with Speech Pathology Australia and eligibility to apply for Medicare Provider Number
  8. Successful National Police Check and current Working with Children Check documentation
  9. Required documentation to work in NSW schools
  10. Current NSW Driver License and vehicle
  11. Current Professional Indemnity Insurance

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Experience working with paediatric language, speech and social skills
  2. Experience in working with and knowledge of the NDIS
  3. Experience prescribing AAC and delivering interventions for AAC users
  4. Experience delivering services in schools
  5. Strong commitment to professional development in related clinical areas
  6. Current First Aid Certificate

Student Speech Pathologist

👓 Are you a Speech Pathology Student?
🥰 Do you want to work in a supportive close-knit team, gaining experience in a paediatric private practice?
🌎 We are looking for speech pathology students (preferably 3rd and 4th year) to support our clients to generalise their skills.

💜 Small talk is well known for delivering high quality services for children with Autism through interventions such as AAC and ABA.

Our speech pathologists provide thorough and detailed programs to families to help with home practice and generalisation in the community. However many families request additional support implementing these programs at home, school or in the community.

We would love to extend our services to help meet the needs of our clients and better support our families.
